MATTER is a collection of physical ideas exploring ephemerality, endless space and time, states of matter, resilience, and endurance. It’s a demonstration of constant process, of never-ending research, and of authentic in the moment decision making. Through our creation process, we developed an extensive collection of tasks, visuals, and narratives that bring us into the same world. We enriched our dancing with conversations of film, science, visual inspiration, and what it means to share and perform an art form that impacts us so deeply, but often disappears and leaves no permanent traces behind. We learned to celebrate, admire, and be inspired by each other. We challenged our brains and bodies and their ability to commit to a collective goal.
